Been curious about the latest old school goodies that have been put to use on our homestead? These would be the newest arrivals, and perhaps one of our boys' most loved. The desks just sort of appeared in our kitchen one day. It was one of the few times I had to repeatedly ask (tell) my boys to clean something.
Each of the boys picked out their own desk, got to work cleaning and organizing their school stuff inside.
As you can clearly see in the photos, they boys already had desks; a hand-me-down from their mom's younger years and another that we scored from a garage sale for free (yup - free!). But there's just something fun about these vintage desks that my boys couldn't resist. And why not add a few more things to our kitchen/school/living room/hangout? It's not like it's crowded or anything. That's sarcasm, folks - our quarters are cramped! But if it makes learning better, then this homeschooling mom is all for giving up a little breathing room.
School work just looks a little more fun at this vintage desk.
Nikolas looks pretty happy, don't you think? A genuine smile is work the space we've given up by adding them to the room!
I think that his desk is my favorite - it even has an easel, which is great for when he's sketching for art.
Just like when I was in school, he can store all his papers and supplies inside the desk. I especially love this because it means it's not scattered all over my house!
Brandon's desk is slightly different, but still proves to be a fun find.
He does love his "new" desk!
And he also enjoyed showing off the inside, where all of his supplies can be easily stored away. And, yes, that's my canner in the background. If you couldn't tell by previous photos, this isn't just my kitchen/school/living room/hangout area - it's my canning room too! Who needs space?
What do you think? Was this a great find or a waste of space? Share your comments below!
I miss those kinds of desks!!
